About Kim
BA (Hons) - Design, P.G.C.E - Post Compulsory Education
Kim graduated from Staffordshire University in the heart of the British potteries in Stoke-on-Trent and specialising in glass and ceramics at the age of 21, and then went on to have a career as a glassblower and teacher of glass for many years before returning to her first love of pottery. Her own work for some years now has centred around wheel thrown porcelain and crystalline glazes, these glazes contain the raw ingredients to create crystals that develop and grow in the kiln firing. Crystalline glazes on ceramic for Kim are the perfect marriage of both glass and ceramics processes; combining the glassy crystalline magma of molten glass with earthy tactile clay.
